Our SCUBA Divemaster Program is run over a minimum one week period, with a varying level of demand on your time. Your SCUBA Divemaster course will comprise elements of knowledge development work in the classroom, skill training sessions in the pool and open water whilst you also work within an existing training team in a hands on role. In addition to these scheduled parts of your program, you will also need to complete several self study team projects and homework portions along the way.
There are of course additional components to your course such as the internship work, mapping exercise and a risk assessment project, along with a large amount of self study, but as a Divemaster managing your own time is also a skill in itself.
The internship portion of your course will throw you into a real training environment, almost immediately, where you will start to experience what can really happen. This is probably the most enjoyable and definitely the most rewarding part of the Divemaster Program, it really does give you a huge buzz the first time you really do help someone complete that difficult skill or re-assure them when they are a little apprehensive.
A Divemaster is looked upon as a Diver having:
- A high level of personal diving skill
- Instructor level knowledge of diving theory
- Significant training in how to assist an instructor during training activities
- The ability to assume appropriate responsibilities that benefit the welfare of other divers.
As you may know, many Divemasters go on to become SCUBA Instructors. So, the training and experience you gain trough the Divemaster program helps shape your abilities and attitude toward becoming a professional level diving educator, if you so desire.
As a Divemaster, you'll be qualified to:
- Organise, conduct and supervise recreational diving activities, both land and boat based
- Assist SCUBA Instructors in conducting SCUBA Diver program
